Since the beginning of my career, I've had the opportunity to work on sustainability projects.

Hospitals, for example, are concerned about upgrading the systems and the heating dissipated from the chiller, which results in the production of hot water. Once the critical machines are connected, backup electricity is also necessary.

When it comes to sustainability, resorts must conform to a licenses and certain standards.

Furthermore, I am particularly concerned with the quality of materials used, as well as improving the house's performance and functional design to improve the environment, such as using local materials and finishes, native landscaping, and storm water management, among other things.

Sustainability Professor at Universidade Paulista - 2015-2016

In this lesson, my goal was to ensure that every student evaluated and understood the primary goal of a sustainable project. Such as the value of sustainability in construction, material life cycles, energy flows, water use and reuse, and so on.

Enviroment Comfort Professor at Universidade Paulista - 2015-2016

The goal of this session was to teach about comfort in the environment and human perception; vision, luminous energy; hearing, sound energy; smell, chemical energy (odor); tactile-thermal energy ( thermal energy). Geographic knowledge of wind, seasons, and other natural variables is also useful. Physical models are used to better comprehend the sun's path and ventilation.

Post-graduation - 2010. Theme research: Sustainability Retrofit for Low-income Real Estate

in São Paulo

Verification of existing projects for Downtown revitalization and reoccupation. The study case is based on a Hotel Retrofit, The São Paulo Hotel, and its adaption for Low-Income Dwelling. The analysis of the elements required to get several certifications' sustainability certifications, particularly the Aqua certification. The low quality of urban life, the destruction and mischaracterization of the built and urban heritage, and, most importantly, the lack of ecological sustainability in the processes resulting from the urban actions implemented, with growing environmental aggression in the relationship between the existing built and natural spaces, could all be seen as indicators of the country's poverty. The technical and material processes could help to reduce the environmental impact of the environment built on the local architectural site, the recovery, maintenance, and restoration of buildings, known as retrofit, to allow for the readjustment and reintegration of these structures into the city's structure, so contributing to the optimization of built space, which, in addition to being a powerful tool in favour of sustainability, can also contribute to the city's development.

Mairipora House- 2015

I designed this house to have a reduced carbon footprint than a typical Brazilian house. It is facing the site in a way that receives the maximum natural light and sunshine. It has large windows in main rooms to the North face, specifically designed to let the sun come in during the winter and open up in the summer to keep the house cool. Moreover, there were 3 high windows in the living room to improve the lighting and save more energy. There are 2 bathrooms in the middle of the house, and the solution to enhance the natural lighting and ventilation is the addition of skylight windows.

The ventilation design is another sustainable improvement in this house. In the bathrooms, there are air ducts on the walls connecting to the north facade of the house to guarantee 100% natural permanent ventilation using the difference of pressure between indoors and outdoors. The south face is the windier face; therefore, the location of the laundry room helps to dry clothes faster.

The last important aspect to highlight is that the roof has a thick layer of clay pebbles to insulate and save more energy on cooling and heating.

As a result, the owners are reportedly saving on energy costs. A combination of passive and active strategies results in a house that uses less energy than a traditional home in Brazil.

Sustainable tourism is a reality at Txai Itacaré. Employees receive lessons and lectures offered by the team of Companions of Txai Institute to get to know more about issues such as recycling, composting, treating water and sewage and also about biodiversity.

The Txai Resorts hotels are located in places with natural surroundings, ensuring ecological sustainability, responsible social development and respect for the culture and the local community, always following the guiding principle of harmony between man and nature.

This is the reason why there are few bungalows and residences in each reserved area, as part of the commitment to have minimal impact on the environment.

Projeto Piloto Hotel- 2010

Another sustainable project that I participated in was the "projeto Piloto" [Pilot Hotel Project], which takes the certification A in Procel ( Brazilian seal label based on energy efficiency).
